Nature's molecular sponge
Zeolite is a hydrated aluminosilicate mineral with an open, three-dimensional crystal framework built from alumina (AlO₄) and silica (SiO₄) tetrahedra.
This framework contains regular cavities the size of small molecules. Water and ions such as sodium, potassium and ammonium are held in these pores and released when needed.
But this is not ordinary zeolite. Most zeolites on the market are clinoptilolite; WATAD's mineral is the rare Clinoptilolite type — far superior to classic zeolites in cation exchange capacity (CEC), water retention and purity. It is sourced from the volcanic rocks of Al Safawi, Jordan.
A porous crystalline cage
Clinoptilolite's three-dimensional aluminosilicate cage captures and holds water molecules and nutrient ions such as NH₄⁺, K⁺ and Ca²⁺ — a cation exchange capacity far beyond classic zeolites.
(Ca, Na, K)₃ · AlSiO · 12H₂O
Absorbs, holds, releases gradually
Zeolite's high cation exchange capacity (CEC) stops nutrients from leaching away and delivers them gradually as the plant needs them.
High CEC holds nutrients in the root zone.
Six properties that make zeolite unique
Sustainability
Stays active in soil for 30+ years — one application.
Cation exchange (CEC)
Selectively holds and exchanges ions.
Water retention
The porous structure holds water for long periods.
Adsorption
Adsorbs molecules on its surface; removes toxins and odors.
Nitrogen fixation
Captures ammonia, supports beneficial bacteria.
Porous structure
Cage-like channels boost aeration.
